Restoring healthy and vibrant symmetry, shade, and smoothness to the teeth with custom smile makeovers
At Silsby Family Dental, we appreciate that no matter one’s “season in life,” each and every one of us desires to have an attractive, healthy-looking smile that leaves a lasting impression for all the right reasons. Certain treatments available at our office are quite as customized as the “smile makeover.” After all, there will never be another smile quite like yours. So, how we “make it over” depends on numerous factors specific to your unique features, needs, and goals.
Great! How do I get started?
A consultation at our office in Albion, New York, is a shared element and foundational to any makeover designed to make patients smile! Be prepared to share your goals and even some photos of smiles you admire during your consultation with Dr. Evan Silsby. Understanding your personal preferences helps; for instance, you may desire to regain the natural white color of your teeth, removing stains caused by years of smoking and a coffee or tea habit. Or, you may desire dramatic whitening (bleaching) that is beyond the natural shade of your teeth (yet still looks lovely and complements their skin tone and other facial characteristics).
While patients’ preferences can vary, there are fundamental characteristics of a smile that are noticed for the right reasons. These elements include the “3 S’s”:
- Symmetry
- Shade
- Smoothness
What if I don’t like how my teeth are spaced?
This is where “symmetry” comes into play. We can achieve a more balanced smile with modern orthodontic treatments like Invisalign®. This option uses clear aligners instead of fixed, silver-colored metal braces to reposition the teeth. For patients with more minor cosmetic issues, such as slight gaps between teeth or modest crowding and misalignment, we can even apply bonding or veneers to make the teeth look more evenly positioned.
Can you lighten even very yellow or deeply discolored teeth?
Yes. This is where the coveted smile characteristic of “shade” comes into play. As a qualified dentist, Dr. Silsby uses clinically proven and powerful whitening gels by a leading manufacturer, Opalescence™, to make stains disappear. We even offer both in-office and take-home whitening with special, customized trays. So, there is certain to be an option that is well-suited to your tastes and schedule. Now, versatile veneers and bonding can also be applied to some types of discoloration. They don’t lighten the teeth, but these thin layers of porcelain or composite resin do cover up the stubborn, whitening-resistant discoloration. In short, there is an option for even the most discolored teeth.
What if my teeth look worn?
The surfaces of our teeth can become worn and look less healthy and youthful over time, just through years of “use.” Here again, we recommend veneers and bonding to regain that youthful and healthy appearance. Or, if we find that your tooth is weakened or vulnerable to further damage, restorative dentistry options may be in your future. These alternatives range from tooth-colored fillings and natural-looking crowns to porcelain bridges, dentures, and tooth replacement with implants (for those teeth that can’t be strengthened or preserved through other means).
We can make over your smile with a single service or treatment or many combined cosmetic and restorative dentistry procedures.
