Dental crowns are one of the most versatile solutions in modern dentistry. From camouflaging an unsightly tooth to making a tooth stronger after a root canal and more, quality crown treatment by Dr. Evan Silsby at Silsby Family Dental can restore your tooth or give you a whole new look.
Sometimes, a filling isn’t enough. Tooth decay, cracked teeth, and worn-down teeth may call for a crown. If you’ve ever had a root canal, your dentist may have topped it off with a crown to make it stronger and protect it. Crowns restore both strength and appearance. Imagine getting a protective cap that looks natural and lets you eat with confidence.
Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics (CEREC) lets us design and mill a crown right in the office on the same day. Compared to traditional ways involving multiple visits, messy impressions, and lots of waiting. CEREC saves time using improved precision to give you the custom feeling you want without guesswork.
Dr. Silsby starts by numbing the area. Then, he removes the decay or old filling before shaping your tooth. The shaping creates room for the crown and ensures that the crown will fit comfortably. It’s like carving a sculpture so the new piece fits exactly.
Next, Dr. Silsby does a quick digital scan. A small wand captures a 3D image of your tooth, which is used to guide the crown’s custom fit. A better fit means less chance of sensitivity or awkward edges.
Using CAD software and the scan, the crown is milled from a block of ceramic in our office. With color matching, you can be sure that the crown will blend perfectly with your natural teeth. Then, we carefully check the fit before polishing the crown and bonding it in place. The whole process? Usually under two hours. When you leave, you’ll be introducing your new smile to the world.
Same-day crowns help you avoid repeat trips. There are fewer numbing shots. Durable materials that resist stains. You leave with a crown that matches your smile.
That’s valuable. Patients often say they wish they’d done it sooner. That extra care from Dr. Silsby and our team makes all the difference.
